Prison Island was formerly owned by an Arab and was privately used as a place of detention for disobedient slaves. It was built in 1893 as a central prison for Zanzibar, hence the name “PRISON ISLAND”. You will be able to see Giant Tortoises, Dik dik, Peacock, Prison Chamber, Mangrove forest and perhaps swim and snorkel if interested.
we will have a chance to visit Town Markets, old slave markets, National Museum, High court building, Old German Consulate, Africa House (former English Club), Tippu Tip House and Grave, Kele kele square, Old British Consulate, Orphanage home, Old Fort, Forodhani Gardens, House of Wonders,
We will visit a Baobab tree believed to be more than 500years old before sailing back to Fumba village and back to your hotel for dinner and overnight. – STONE TOWN
You will have a chance to eat, smell and taste different fruits and spices to learn why Zanzibar is called a spice Island.Lunch will be in the farm to taste spicy food prepared by local women group there.
Late afternoon we will drive to Nungwi in the North for dinner and overnight.
